1. In accordance with instructions already issued, the 7th Cdn. Inf. Bde. Will attack the enemy's positions in the LOZINGHEM Sector on the 14th inst. passing through Brigade at present holding the Sector.
"M" Brigade is attacking on the Right.
"N" Brigade is attacking on the Left.
Right Brigade Boundary: From enemy front line at C.18.d.6.0. - along the LOZINGHEM-BURBURE ROAD inclusive - C.11.d.2.7. - C.11.c.7.6. - thence in a straight line to C.3.a.9.4.
Left Brigade Boundary: From C.23.d.9.9. - in a straight line to C.9.a.1.7.
Boundary between Battalions: A straight line from C.24.d.8.7. to C.3.c.40.65.
3. OBJECTIVES.
Intermediate Objective: The BLUE LINE - The North Western side of the road running from C.11.d.1.7. to C.16.d.70.75.
Final Objective: The GREEN LINE - The Western side of BURBURE - RAIMBERT Road from C.3.a.9.4. to C.9.a.1.7.
4. FORMATION FOR THE ATTACK.
(a) First Phase. The R.C.R. On the Right and 42nd Battalion on the Left will assault and capture the enemy's position up to and including the Intermediate Objective (BLUE LINE).
(b) Second Phase. The PPCLI on the Right and the 49th battalion on the Left will pass through the troops engaged in the first phase when they have completed the capture of the Intermediate Objective, and assault and capture the enemy's position up to and including the Final Objective (GREEN LINE).
(c) Battalions will each attack on a two Company frontage with one Company in Support and one in Reserve.
(d) Troops engaged in the second phase will follow 800 yards in rear of the troops engaged in the first phase until the Intermediate is captured, when they will pass through to the assault and capture of the Final Objective.
(e) The Intermediate and Final Objectives will each be consolidated by the troops capturing them.
(f) When the final objective has been reached it will be held by the troops capturing it disposed in depth and The R.C.R. Will move into supports along the line of the road C.10.c.8.9. - C.16.a.55.65. The 42nd Battalion remaining in Brigade Reserve along the Line of the Intermediate Objective.
(g) Instructions concerning assembly areas and moves thereto will be issued separately.
5. ARTILLERY.
Action of Artillery will be as set out in attached "ARTILLERY INSTRUCTIONS".
6. MACHINE GUNS.
Action of Machine Guns will be as set out in attached "INSTRUCTIONS TO MACHINE GUN COMPANY".
7. 7th TRENCH MORTAR BATTERY.
Two guns with crews are allotted to O.C. R.C.R. and O.C. 49th Battalion for use in the attack on the final objective. They will report at least one hour before ZERO Hour.
The 7th Trench Mortar battery less four guns will be in Brigade Reserve at C.24.d.1.1. During the first phase and will move to C.17.Central during the second phase, where it will continue to be in Brigade Reserve.
8. ZERO HOUR.
Will be at time to be notified later.
9. CONTACT PATROL.
Will fly at ZERO plus 2 hours and ZERO plus 2 1 / 2 hours. Ground flares will be shown on call from aeroplane.
10. LIGHT SIGNALS.
White Very Lights:- Intermediate Objective Gained.
Green Very Lights:- Final Objective Gained.
Red Very Lights:- Artillery Support required.
11. COMMUNICATIONS.
As per instructions issued.
12. SYNCHRONIZATION OF WATCHES.
Will be carried out under arrangements to be made by Brigade Signal Officer.
13. BRIGADE HEADQUARTERS.
(a) First phase (for practice only) C.24.d.2.4.
(b) Second phase, House at C.18.c.0.8.
14. ACKNOWLEDGE.
Issued through signals at 3.00 p.m.
